Orthodontics & Invisalign Invisible Braces

We do a LOT of orthodontics in our practice and we love doing it! In fact, we often find ourselves treating our adolescent patients – only to find that Mom and Dad, or a neighbour will set up consultations for us to straighten their teeth as well.

So whether you’re of the younger set, or one of the rest of us — we are fully qualified to offer you clear or metal braces –in addition to various retainers and appliances.

Orthodontics is essentially the use of various retainers, brackets and wires to fix irregular bites or misaligned teeth. While there may be a cosmetic component for our patients wishing to pursue orthodontics, if left untreated, orthodontic problems can lead to painful jaw problems, headaches, gum disease or cavities if teeth are overcrowded and are difficult to keep clean.

If it is determined that orthodontic treatment is right for you, Dr. Walters can discuss what options are best and how long you can expect to wear your braces.

For the most part, treatment lasts between 12 and 18 months depending on your situation and we are able to place braces that are much more discreet that the ones we saw years ago. We hear over and over from our younger and adult patients alike “that the result was well worth the wait”.

Invisalign Invisible Braces

How many adults have resigned themselves to spending the rest of their lives with crooked or protruding teeth because they’re too shy to wear train-track braces? And how many would straighten them if they could do it without anyone else knowing?

Thanks to Invisalign invisible braces, there’s no need to wonder any more. With this discreet orthodontic system, Metropolitan Dental can give you a perfect looking smile—without using any wires, brackets, or bands!

Invisalign braces are actually a series of clear plastic aligners that move your teeth little by little, until they reach the desired position. You change the aligners yourself every few weeks, and drop into our office for a check-up every couple of months to see how things are progressing. The whole treatment is usually completed in a year!

Because they’re removable, Invisalign braces allow you to eat, drink, brush, and floss as usual. And, since you don’t have to clean around wires or brackets, you’re also less likely to have problems with plaque build-up, tooth decay, and gum disease.

Best of all, you won’t have to save your smile until after your braces come off. They’re our little secret.

New and existing patients who wish to seek orthodontic treatment generally set up an orthodontic consultation that is set up in two parts. The first appointment includes an orthodontic exam, impressions of the teeth for fabrication of models, photographs and x-rays. The second appointment is an opportunity for Dr. Walters to sit down with you to discuss his diagnosis and to set out an appropriate treatment plan.

If you are interested in learning more about our orthodontic practice, or if you wish to schedule a consultation with Dr. Walters, please feel free to contact us.

  • Metropolitan Dental—Now Open

To all of our valued patients of Metropolitan Dental:

Hello everyone! This is coming to all of you with good news! We have finally received official approval to head back to work. We have been closed for almost three months. Needless to say we are all quite excited to head back to Metropolitan Dental and to once again see all of you for your dental needs.

COVID-19 has been a very difficult time for all of us, including the shut down of dentistry across the province. We understand that many of you have been forced to wait for your dental care and we deeply appreciate your understanding and patience while we were closed. Your health and well being continue to be our highest priority as we carefully prepare and update our practice procedures. Please be assured that we will be taking care of you, just as we will be taking care of our families and ourselves.

We know that our capacity of getting back to work will not be 100% initially, but we will be working hard to see all of you. We have opened our doors as of June 8th. We ask, unless you are experiencing an emergency, please wait for us to call you, instead of you calling the office. This will help to make our job of scheduling and re-scheduling patients easier. If you would like to email us to schedule or update an appointment click here.

There are some new protocols that have been put in place by the Minister of Health for your next dental appointment, so we will be emailing these out to you prior to your appointment. These new screening processes are important for everyone to follow, we thank you for your co-operation.

Once again, we thank you for your trust and patronage over the decades. Please remember as businesses continue to re-open, the DENTAL office is one of the cleanest and most sterile places that you will encounter. We have been working hard to ensure that commitment to you.

We look forward to seeing all of your smiling faces again.

Dr. Barton Walters, and Dr. Andrew Kaplan

And the entire team at Metropolitan Dental
